1984
Founding of the business
The company was founded in 1984 by the qualified engineer Hans Detlef Glindemann (=HDG).
The company was based in Kürten near Cologne and at first offered Service and Repairs.
1992
Changing from service provider to manufacturer.
In 1992 the focus shifted and was now on building assemblies and entire packaging machines. This led to the change from a pure service provider to a business selling packaging machines.
1998
The first HDG packaging machine.
The first machine wholly manufactured by HDG was commissioned. The concepts used in the machine were brand new to the market of packaging machinery.
2001
A new, more modern marketing and sales system was introduced, alongside new machines being added to the portfolio of the company.
2002
HDG at the interpack, Duesseldorf, Germany.
2003
The number of employees increased to 34 people. The annual turnover was of 3.5 Mio EUR.
The annual turnover increased to 6.5 Mio. EUR.
The export ratio was of 70%.
2006
Change in Leadership.
Christof R. Glindemann took over the leadership of the company after his father Hans Detlef Glindemann.
2007

2009
Thanks to the constant and positive stream of orders, the business outgrew the premises in Kürten.
2011
Hans Detlef Glindemann handed over the company to the new owner, the strategic investor Peter Steindl (owner of FAWEMA GmbH)
2012
The first joint exhibition of HDG and FAWEMA at the Fachpack in Nuremberg.
2013
The decision to build new premises for the company in Lindlar was made.
2014
Joint attendance of HDG and FAWEMA at the Interpack exhibition in Duesseldorf.
The company moved to the new premises in Lindlar in September 2014.
2019
A new assembly hall was added to the building. The company had grown to employ 80 people.
HDG and FAWEMA were taken over by a Holding Group. The Group “The Packaging Group” is the result of this merger and aims to create better synergies, thanks to the two companies working more closely together.
The merger of FAWEMA GmbH, HDG Verpackungsmaschinen GmbH and the company Wolf Verpackungsmaschinen GmbH was signed. This union of businesses has led to a packaging machinery group with more than 400 employees, 4 production sites and more than 80 Mio. EUR annual turnover. Thanks to this, we can guarantee all our customers consistency and reliability in a strong union for many years to come.
2021
For the first time the company merger of FAWEMA, HDG and WOLF will be represented as „The Packaging Group” at FachPack.
